Jacques Le Flaguais (1921-1986)



Jacques Le Flaguais was a cartoonist born in Tours, France in 1921. A tour as a cabaret singer with Edith Piaf brought him to New York and then Canada in 1948. He stayed in Montreal and worked in a hotel before taking on work as a poster-artist and advertising cartoonist.

He had a cover for the New Yorker. Covers and drawings were reproduced in the Reader's Digest and he contributed cartoons to the Montreal Weekend Magazine. These cartoons were drawn for the May 14, 1960 Edmonton Journal Weekend Magazine. Jacques Le Flaguais' story is online here in
